Gold Futures: GC vs MGC (Tick Size & Tick Value)

Gold moved one dollar. Did you make $10 or $100?

GC = 100 oz, MGC = 10 oz. Both tick in $0.10 steps — but one tick is worth $10 on GC and $1 on MGC. So a $1.00 move = 10 ticks = $100 (GC) or $10 (MGC). There's also the 1-Ounce contract (1OZ): 1 oz, $0.25 tick, cash-settled.

Why volume traders care: footprints and volume profiles are drawn in ticks, and GC and MGC have separate order books and separate volume. This channel reads GC data by default.
