Naked levels: nPOC, nVAH, nVAL and nVWAP
A naked level is a reference price from a finished period that price has not traded back to. AK FlowBook keeps them on the chart until they are touched, so you can see which old references are still untested.

How a naked level is created
When a day, week or month closes, the indicator stores:
- that period's POC (
nPOC), - its VAH and VAL (
nVAH,nVAL), ifInclude naked VAH / VALis on, - its final VWAP (
nVWAP), ifInclude naked prior VWAP closesis on.
Each level starts at the first bar of the new period and extends to the right.
How it is removed
A naked level disappears when:
- any later bar trades through its price (the bar's high and low span the level), or
- it gets older than
Naked level max life (bars)(1500 bars by default), or - more than
Max naked levels kept(18 by default) are stored. The oldest one is dropped first.
What is drawn
| Label | Line | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
nPOC | Yellow, solid, thicker | Untested point of control of a prior day, week or month. |
nVAH | Silver, dotted | Untested value area high. |
nVAL | Silver, dotted | Untested value area low. |
nVWAP | Blue, solid | Untested final VWAP of a prior period. |
The label sits at the right end of the line. It does not say which period (day, week or month) the level came from. Levels from different periods can sit close to each other.
The dashboard row Naked ↑ / ↓ (<count>) shows the nearest naked level above and below the current price, and how many are stored. See Dashboard.
How to read it
- Naked levels are prices where the market last found balance or value but has not returned to since. Many traders watch them as reference areas for a test or a reaction.
- A naked level near price is a place to pay attention to what volume and price do. The level alone says nothing about direction.
- After the first touch the level is gone. Price may still react around that area later, but the indicator no longer draws it.
Alert
Turn on Alert: naked level touched to receive a message when price touches a naked level. When several are touched on one bar, the one nearest the close is reported, for example AKFB Full | nPOC TOUCH <price> | XAUUSD | 5. See Alerts.
